Having problems with classroom media equipment? Call the Quick Response Team (QRT) at 752-3333.
- Having general issues with the classrooms?
- Send email to ats@ucdavis.edu
- Where can I find more information about classroom media equipment?
- Check the Classroom AV webpages at http://av.ucdavis.edu/. You can find instructions on the classroom media equipment, the Registrar's Classroom Guide, and information about hooking up a laptop to the classroom network.
- How do I turn on the media cabinet?
- To project an image onto the large screen from the VCR or a computer, press "projector on" and then choose the input you want to use
- How do I turn on the microphone?
- In the rooms that are large enough to require a microphone, you do not need to turn on the system, the amplifier is always on. For wired microphones make sure it is plugged in to the mike input jack, and turn up the volume. For wireless microphones turn on the switch located on the transmitter (the part worn on your belt) and adjust the volume.
- What if the wireless microphone is cutting out?
- Check the battery indicator bar on the transmitter, if it has only 1 or 2 bars showing replace the battery. New batteries are located in the drawer of the media cabinet.
- How can I hook my laptop up to the network in the classrooms?
- The best way is to use DHCP. You can find instructions to setup your laptop to use DHCP at http://computingaccounts.ucdavis.edu. DHCP automatically configures your laptop when you connect it to any network which has DHCP enabled. The network in the classrooms is DHCP enabled, but the network in your office/department might not be. You should ask your departmental Technology Support Coordinator (TSC) or LAN administrator if DHCP is enabled on your network.

- What if the image is not on the screen after hooking everything up correctly?
- Try choosing any other input on the smart panel and then choosing the input you are looking for again. This will make the smart panel take another look for the input signal.
- Can I plug in an external audio source such as a CD player to the system?
- For audio sources such as a CD player use the "Auxiliary Audio" input on the right side of the smart panel, the volume is controlled by the volume control knob above the input. It is not necessary to turn on the projection system to play audio only.
- Can I plug in an external video source such as a DVD player to the system?
- For external video sources such as a DVD or laserdisc player use the Aux. Video input on the smart panel, you will need a BNC cable for video and a RCA type cable for audio.
